Programs that maintain information about vacancies on nonprofit boards and their current needs, identify, recruit and screen potential board members and guide them into board service. Included are programs that work directly with boards and help them recruit, identify and screen new members; programs that work with individual candidates and help them identify and apply for board vacancies that match their skills and interests; programs that work with corporations or other entities and match executives, managers and employees with technical or functional expertise who wish to volunteer with boards that have current vacancies; and programs that allow both boards and board candidates to post information about their respective requirements and qualifications via the Internet and allow either to initiate contact when there appears to be a match.
