Description:

Twenty-one branch libraries throughout Davidson County provide a full range of library service in local or regional settings. Functions include reference service, children's service, interlibrary loans, reader's advisory assistance and public programming. Each branch maintains a book collection offering a full range of nonfiction, popular reading and study materials for all ages. Many provide audio books as well as popular videos. Most branches also furnish copy machines, and tax forms. Online catalog terminals and public PCs, available at every location, provide access to the systemwide collection and the internet. Please contact your nearest branch to check availability of specific materials or services. All libraries serve as extreme weather shelters during their regular opening hours where persons can find respite from very cold or hot weather.

Main branch hours: Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Sat 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sun 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Intake Process:

Library cards are free for all residents of Davidson County. For a full access card, present your ID and proof of address at any Nashville Public Library location. For access to online materials only, individuals 13 years and over can register online.
Nonresidents: if you live outside Davidson County, you can receive a free library card to check out physical items only or you can pay a $10 yearly fee to obtain access to online resources in addition.

To get a card, present your ID and proof of address at any Nashville Public Library location. Accepted Forms of ID: Driver's License or Learner's Permit, School ID (if under 18), Military ID, Passport, ID Only with Date of Birth
Accepted Proofs of Address: Mail postmarked within the last month, Pay stub dated within the last month, Utility bill dated within the last month, Voter registration card, Current lease/Deed agreement

The library accepts: Materials in good condition (no torn, yellowed, water-damaged, or marked!€on pages; no broken bindings or stained covers.), Books, Music CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, Audiobooks on CD and mp3, and Seeds for the Seed Exchange (Please review the Seed Protocol for information on seed donations).

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers over the age of 13 are welcome to serve as librarian's assistants, digital inclusion assistants, computer assistants, and talking library assistants. All adults will have their backgrounds checked prior to volunteering, and the library reserves the right to refuse volunteers.
