Description:

The Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee established Affordable Medicine Options for their seniors Program (AMOS) as part of the agency's Office on Aging Services. This service helps seniors and disabled individuals apply for available assistance to reduce the cost of their prescription medications that they cannot otherwise afford and helps individuals apply for various programs such as medicare part D. The trained advisers do the research, provide information, and help individuals complete application forms. AMOS is not a clinic or pharmacy so medication is not handed out by this program.

Hours:

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:45 pm

Intake Process:

Need: Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, Medical Records, and Drivers License or photo ID. Information asked will be based on what type of medication or health insurance you currently use.

No Fee

Eligibility:

60 and older Knoxville/Knox County residents.

Yes, will receive on-sight training and an estimate of at lease 3 hours a month is wanted such as office work, searching for solutions to consumer problems, preparing for advising sessions, and in some cases advising in general.
