The mission of The River is to provide all women with a safe place to care for themselves and family with basic services that educate and empower women for independent living / With nonjudgmental support and a Christ centered approach, we bring hope to the women we serve and remind them of God's love / Services: Laundry: Women may wash 2 loads of laundry a day on a first come, first served basis for a quarter total / Detergent, bleach, stain remover and fabric softener sheets are provided / All loads need to be started by 12:30 PM / Showers: Showers are first come, first served for women / Towels, bathmats, wash cloths and toiletries are provided / All showers stop at 2:30 PM / Daily Devotions: Daily Devotions are held at 9:30 AM / Free Hair Cut: Free Hair Cut Day is always the second Monday of the month and is first come, first served from 9 AM to 12 noon / Feminine Hygiene Products: Sanitary pads and tampons are available each day / Mail and Telephone Services: Mail and telephone services are available / This is especially important for homeless women / Free Diapers (Only for Washington County Residents): The J Walter Brown Changing Lives from the Bottom Up Diaper Subsidy Program for families in WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN with children up to the age of 3 provides 28 diapers on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9 AM to 12 noon / A total of 56 diapers a month / Homeless Verification Letters: We are able to write Homeless Verification Letters for female guests / Community Resource List: A comprehensive Community Resource List is available / Available All Day and Everyday: Puzzle table, job list (updated on Tuesdays), healthy snack, coffee or tea, sewing machines (patterns, fabric, yarn, etc), computers (we are not online), newspaper, writing center, primping area and children's play room (no boys age 10 and up)
