AKA:
Salvation Army Nashville; Northeast Nashville Family Resource Center
Description:
Provides gap housing programs to families, and single men and women with the goal of finding permanent housing. Program can accommodate 13 families, 8 single women, and 20 single men. All clients are expected to be working towards self-sustainability through either work, finishing school, completing job training, etc. Life skills classes, goal setting, counseling and referrals to other support services are a part of the programing.
Also offers a homeless outreach program called LIFNAV, which targets persons and/or families living on the streets. The Salvation Army LIFNAV program helps rescue the hope of our neighbors living outside of shelter by offering street level engagement and support, while helping them navigate their path to rapid rehousing. Case managers work with those living outside shelter to get the necessary documents (ID, Social security card, Birth certificate, etc.) that are needed to secure housing, as well as assist in finding benefits and resources to assist the person (food stamps, Medicaid, VA benefits, etc.). Housing navigators then assist in locating gap and/or permanent housing.
The Center of Hope Resource Center also offers the Pathway of Hope program, geared toward making families in poverty become economically sustainable. The Pathway of Hope program provides case management, resources, and goal setting for families seeking to escape generational poverty. The Pathway of Hope is a Family Assistance/Case management program for low income families. This program is designed to have an impact on how poverty affects multiple generations. By positively changing the lives of parents, The Salvation Army can create better living conditions for children by offering educational and support programs for children in their developmental years. Life Skills classes, goal setting, etc. are a part of the program
