Description:
Provides low-income seniors with benefits for fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs at authorized farmers markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs during summer growing seasons. Only five counties in TN are currently participating. Seniors in Davidson, Dyer and Shelby Counties who get Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) foods also get SFMNP benefits. Hamblen and Warren County seniors only get SFMNP benefits. The SFMNP uses the same eligibility guidelines as CSFP. Seniors must be a resident of participating counties and 60 years of age or older. They must have an income at or below 130% of the federal income poverty guidelines. The SFMNP operates in July and August.

Eligibility:
Seniors in Davidson, Dyer and Shelby Counties who currently receive CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) food are eligible to receive the Senior Farmers Market benefits. Low-income seniors, 60 and over with household incomes at or below 130% of federal poverty guidelines in Hamblen and Warren County may apply for benefits which are issued in July to be spent in July and August.
