Description:
Cold Weather Overflow Shelter. Shelters open for the homeless when the temperature drops below 28 degrees from March - November or in other times of disaster as dictated by the city. The plan focuses on giving people who experience homelessness the best possible information and assistance to seek emergency shelter indoors - especially during extremely cold weather situations. Each morning by 9 am, the website will be updated on whether or not the shelters will be open that night. The shelter has a capacity of 175. Provides a hot meal and communal sleeping area. Pets are welcome but must be brought to the shelter in a kennel or crate. Call or see website for free transportation options to the shelter site.
NOTE: On days it is activated, the shelter will be from 7:00 pm - 7:00 am the next morning.
The overflow shelter activates only when other community shelters (Nashville Rescue Mission and Room In the Inn) have reached capacity. Check the website for latest updates on the status of overflow shelter.

Intake Procedure
Determination of opening a Metro overflow shelter is based on the weather prediction on the afternoon prior to any overflow operation. Check website or call to see if shelter has been activated. Bus line #23B goes to the shelter. You can ride for free if you get on the bus downtown at WeGo Central (400 Charlotte Ave).
