Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis partners with people in Shelby County to help them build or improve places they can call home through new home construction, rehabilitation projects and Aging in Place accessibility and mobility modifications for seniors in Fayette and Shelby County. Eligibility:
Qualified applicants must be a first-time homebuyer or must not have owned a home in the past three years, , meet income guidelines, live in substandard housing, be unable to qualify for a conventional loan due to income, have stable income, have fair or passable credit, make at least a 2 percent down payment (at least $1000.00), save a $1,000.00 emergency fund, attend a 12-week homebuyer education course, complete 350 hours of "sweat equity" work and sign a no-interest mortgage.

Eligibility
Must be a first-time homebuyer, meet income guidelines, live or work in Shelby County, live in substandard housing, be unable to qualify for a conventional loan due to income, have stable income, have fair or passable credit, make at least a $1000.00 down payment, be willing to partner with HFH and do 350-400 hours of sweat equity work toward construction of the house, and sign a no-interest mortgage.
Fees
No-interest mortgage payments are required, as well as a $1000.00 downpayment.
Intake Procedure
Applicants must attend a mandatory orientation session to be considered for the program. Sessions are held at Noon and 6:00 pm on the first Monday of the month and the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10:00 am at the Habitat office.
