Description:

Provides congregate and delivered meals, senior center, homemaker services, information and referral, outreach, transportation and telephone reassurance for senior citizens of Lauderdale County. Provides senior transportation throughout Lauderdale County for those 60 and older within the county for a donation. Seniors can be brought to the Senior Center congregate meal site, stores, medical appointments, and shopping sites. Senior center provides arts and crafts, bingo, music, parties, gardening programs and gardening club, physical fitness programs, walking club, Tai Chi, pool, Scrabble, Community Choir, dominos, ceramics, computer access, television room and various outing and educational workshops. Provides telephone reassurance program staffed by Lauderdale County senior volunteers; emphasis on persons who live alone, but telephone contact is also encouraged for those who are alone during the daytime and need the comfort of friendly concern. Provides in-home and nursing home visits. Provides congregate meals in Halls and home-delivered meals through Southwest TN Human Resource Agency five days a week.

Intake Process:

Call or walk in for information or see Facebook page (Lauderdale County Commission on Aging); Homemaker program and meals require referral and approval from Aging Commission of the Mid-South and Southwest TN Human Resource Agency

Program Fees:

Donations encouraged for rides and meals, but none turned away because of inability to pay; other services are free, except for some outings through the Senior Center.

Eligibility:

Lauderdale County residents 60 and older; but will accept persons who live outside the county if they are 60 or older
