Description:

Reviews and monitors all divorce complaints filed in Shelby County. An arm of Circuit and Chancery courts, divorce referees monitor every divorce case, attend divorce trials and hold hearings to set temporary child support, alimony and attorney fees for the period between filing for divorce and the final hearing. Divorce referees are not allowed to represent or give legal advice to either party in a divorce action. NOTE: THIS DEPARTMENT DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES.

Hours:

Office Hours: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; temporary support hearings are held every Tue, Wed and Thu from 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm. Special hearings may be set by appointment Mon - Thu beginning at 9:00 am
