Eligibility

All applicants must obtain, live, and maintain legal residency in Shelby County within six months of hire date; HOWEVER, LEGAL PROCEEDINGS CHALLENGING THESE CRITERIA ARE PENDING. Applicants must be ages 21 or older upon completion of Police Academy training, have valid drivers license, not haven't been convicted of or pled guilty to any felony charges, and pass background checks to establish a good fit for the job.

Intake Procedure

Call for application. Out-of-town applicants call (800) 318-4164. May pick up application at Police Academy or any MPD precinct, apply online, or email Recruiting Officer Madelyn Kaleta at Madelyn.Kaleta@memphistn.gov .
