Description:

May provide compensation for medical expenses, mental health counseling, lost wages, permanent partial/total disability, pain and suffering (only for sexually-oriented crimes), death benefits for crime victims or their survivors for crimes committed in TN if they meet statutory eligibility provisions. Provides death benefits for dependents of deceased victims, a person suffering bodily injury or death as result of motor vehicle or watercraft accidents caused by drunk drivers, by drivers who intentionally inflicted injury or driver that fled the scene where the victim incurred serious injury. May provide compensation for moving expenses, travel to trial, other losses available under statutory provisions.

Intake Process:

Claims must be filed within one year of when the crime was committed, or a minor child or dependent has until age 19. A claim form must be filed with (received by) the CorVel Corporation office initially by the deadline, along with appropriate supporting documentation. Claims should be submitted through the website. The Nashville office of Claims & Risk Management will review the initial claim after a preliminary review by CorVel.

Eligibility:

Victims must fully cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation and prosecution. Victim cannot contribute to the crime in any respect, directly or indirectly. Victims or their survivors must report the crime within 48 hours of commission, unless the victim is a minor.
