Description:
Provides complaint resolution and advocacy for individuals in nursing homes, assisted living, and care homes in Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby or Tipton counties. Volunteers visit facilities, investigate complaints and monitor the residents' quality of life, care and rights. Accepts volunteers who pass background checks and attend 36-hour training. Provides information and referral about nursing homes and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility, including a website with nursing home and rehabilitation program resources in the area: www.mifa.org/ltcresources.

Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Eligibility:
Any resident or family member of a resident of a nursing home, assisted-living facility or residential care home in Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby or Tipton counties can request help. Volunteer representatives must be 21 or older, and must complete a 36 hour training and certification program. Application process requires an interview, background and reference checks.
