The Tennessee Fair Housing Council (TFHC) provides legal assistance to people who have been or are being discriminated against in housing due to race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), living with children, or disability. TFHC provides intake/referral and education/outreach statewide. The agency provides legal services primarily in the Middle Tennessee counties of Cheatham, Davidson, DeKalb, Dickson, Montgomery, Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Williamson, Wilson.

The program provides housing discrimination enforcement. The council takes in dozens of complaints of housing discrimination each year. The service investigates those complaints, counsels the clients and in some cases, represent them in administrative actions or lawsuits. They also assist complaints in filing administrative complaints even if they're not providing representation.
