TNSTEP - Greater Memphis Area Office - Parent Training/Special Education Information

Description:

Provides free information, advocacy training, and support services to parents of TN children with any type of disability or suspected disability (will help obtain evaluation) who are receiving or eligible to receive special education services. STEP offers workshops, record reviews and offers mediation to parents of children with disabilities (and/or special needs). This office covers all the counties in West TN. Spanish speaking staff available (not on site).

Hours:

Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 3:00 pm; can schedule after-hours meeting with advance notice

Intake Process:

Call for information or check website for workshop schedules. Workshops can be conducted in Spanish, and there is a statewide bilingual staff person as well

Program Fees:

No charge for services to parents. Workshops are free, but professionals may have to pay a nominal cost for printed materials

Any parent or family member of a child with a disability or suspected disability, special education student or a student who may need special help in school (birth through age 22), or professionals in the education field seeking additional training
