The Urban Child Institute (UCI) promotes the education, health and well-being of young children in Shelby County. The Urban Child Institute provides grants to local non-profits that support Shelby County children from birth to age 8 and their families.

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; please contact to schedule an appointment prior to visiting
Intake Process:
UCI does not provide direct services so there is no intake process. Grant applications are received by invitation only. However, nonprofits serving young children and families in Shelby County are encouraged to contact UCI staff to share program information. See website for additional information about UCI's grantmaking, convening and advocacy activities.

Any person or agency interested in early childhood development may contact UCI for information on local resources for young children; non-profits in Shelby County that serve families and young children may inquire about future funding opportunities
