Description:

Provides literacy instruction such as private tutoring and small classes for ages 18 and over with low literacy levels; provides services up to pre-GED and below this level. Call for appointment for new student intake (takes about 2 hours). Staff can meet at locations like the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar) by appointment only. NOTE: BEGINNING JUNE 22, 2021, STAFF WILL BE AT THE BENJAMIN L. HOOKS CENTRAL LIBRARY ON THE 3RD FLOOR IN THE BUSINESS/SCIENCES DEPARTMENT TO DO INTAKE; CALL FOR SCHEDULE.

Program Fees:

$10.00 initial student assessment fee; if accepted into the program, no fee for services

Eligibility:

Must be ages 18 and over with reading or writing below 6th grade level; tutors can be provided for persons who have not yet reached that reading level.
