Description

Classes are provided for adults ages 18 years old or older (or 17 years old with high school waiver) in preparation for the GED/HiSet exam. Graduates of the program participate in a graduation ceremony acknowledging the official completion of the program. Graduates of the program are eligible to participate in the agency's College Prep Program, which provides college admission support, covers the cost of college application fees and a portion of book expenses. Participants may also take part in MAC 4 Jobs, which provides free job training and English as a Second Language classes.

Hours

Orientation is held every first Thursday of the month 8:15 am - 9:00 am; classes are Mon - Thu 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Adults 18 years or older (or 17 years old with a high school waiver)

Fees

No fee. Regularly attending students are eligible to receive bus passes and weekly stipends. Students also receive class study materials.

    Description

    The Early Head Start (EHS) program is for low-income infants, toddlers, pregnant women and their families. EHS programs enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development and help pregnant women to access comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care. In addition to addressing the immediate health and wellbeing of the child and parent, the program also prioritizes the family's economic security and educational success as they are beginning or adding to their family. Early Head Start and Head Start families may also take part in MAC 4 Jobs, which provides free job training and English as a Second Language classes.

          Description

          The Metropolitan Action Commission Head Start Program of Nashville and Davidson County provides pre-school/pre-K education at no cost to income eligible families with children ages 3-5 years old. There are 7 Head Start Centers throughout Nashville. Early Head Start and Head Start families may also take part in MAC 4 Jobs, which provides free job training and English as a Second Language classes.
