Description:

The YMCA Community Action Program (Y-CAP) of Davidson County helps at-risk and underserved youth achieve their brightest possible future by closing the opportunity gap.

They serve students through mentoring and coaching, literacy tutoring, intervention and prevention programs, and college access and readiness resource--all at no cost. The YMCA's literacy program (Y-Literacy) helps struggling readers in grades K-4 gain confidence by increasing their reading comprehension and literacy skills.

Positive Beginnings provides middle school students with behavioral problems the chance to begin again. Through coaching, mentoring and cooperation with schools, they help these students learn the skills they need to change the course of their future. The Y-Quest program serves selected middle schools in Nashville.

The Z Program provides after-school programming to middle school youth at Metro Nashville Public Schools and community sites throughout Davidson County. Students build skills and develop confidence through structured activities in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), social-emotional learning and character development.

YMCA Black Achievers empowers minority and underserved youth in Middle Tennessee with high school, college and career opportunities that encourage students to grow and thrive.

YMCA Latino Achievers empowers Latinx and underserved youth ages 14-21 to excel in high school, gain access to higher education, take advantage of scholarship opportunities and find the career path that!€™s right for them.
