Office of Sustainability and Resilience (OSR)is and Shelby County

Description:

The Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development, Office of Sustainability and Resilience (OSR) serves as a joint city and county government office that works as a green liaison and supports the integration of sustainable practices for all city and county departments. OSR works to implement regional initiatives including the Mid-South Regional Greenprint Plan, the Mid-South Regional Resilience Plan, and the Memphis Area Climate Action Plan, all of which incorporate solutions to sustainability and resilience goals for the region. The Office works to improve energy efficiency for government buildings and generally increase the effectiveness and sustainability of all government operations. OSR also supports waste reduction strategies, green building practices, and the development of clean, renewable energy for the region. The Office also seeks to investigate and implement climate adaptation strategies to better prepare the region for both acute events (such as wind or flood) and long term chronic stressors (such as extreme heat). OSR welcomes new ideas from members of the community to further their collective goals for a greener and more resilient path forward for all residents of Memphis and Shelby County.
