A valet parking permit may be issued when an application and all necessary documents are filed. No person shall engage in the business of valet parking within the area of the Metropolitan Government public right-of-way without first obtaining and keeping in force a license from the Traffic and Parking Commission as a valet operator. Metro Public Works traffic staff will review the location and if recommended, the request will be submitted to the Metro Traffic & Parking Commission for final approval. A permanent loading zone permit may be issued when an application has been filed. Metro Public Works staff will review the location and if recommended the request will be submitted to the Metro Traffic & Parking Commission for final approval. In December 2010, the Metro Council approved an ordinance allowing free parking at meters in the downtown Central Business District to drivers who own clean technology vehicles, including hybrid vehicles that use both electric and gasoline engines for power, or non-hybrid vehicles that get very high gas mileage and have very low exhaust emissions. Beginning July 1 2011, the Davidson County Clerk's office will provide Green Parking permits to private passenger vehicles and may be obtained with an annual fee of $10. The permits are valid for a period of one year and shall be issued at the time the motor vehicle is registered. Applications are available at the County Clerk's main office in the Howard Office Building at Fulton Complex, 700 2nd Avenue South, and at all five satellite locations. Residents with Green Parking permits must adhere to all parking laws, including properly parking in metered spaces and parking no longer than meter limits. Green Parking permits are tied to vehicle VIN numbers and cannot be shared with another vehicle.

                                  Description

Residents in Metro Nashville's Urban and General Services Districts have their brush and yard waste collected four times a year on a rotation schedule along 12 routes. Instead of chippers, Metro Public Works uses knuckle boom trucks equipped with a mechanical arm that lifts brush piles up and into a trailer that's pulled behind the truck. This method of collecting brush is quieter and safer than using wood chippers, and allows Metro to provide quicker and more efficient service. To assist citizens who need brush disposal more often than the four collections provided annually by Metro, Public Works offers free brush disposal for Davidson County residents (pick-up truck loads only, no trailers) at both of the Nature's Best Organics of Tennessee locations and at the Ezell Pike Convenience Center.
