Description:
Provides highway maintenance and repair, traffic and highway marking, bridge repair & inspections, highway beautification, environmental planning, litter control and office administration. Also provides roadside assistance for motorists in distress on interstates in Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis. Call "511" for traffic and road conditions information. Individuals may report littering from vehicles on the state's roadways when they witness it. Reports can be made by either calling the hotline at 1-877-8-LITTER (877-854-8837) or submitting a report online at https://www.tn.gov/tdot/environmental-home/environmental-highway-beautification-office/litter.html.
Information needed for a report includes the date and time, county, road where the incident occurred, license plate number, description of the vehicle, and a description of the event. When reports are received, TDOT will send the registered owner of the TN vehicle a letter informing them of the negative consequences of their littering actions, as well as educational materials. The letter will also include information about how to contain their litter and inform them that litterers can be fined up to $1,500.
The Nashville Helptruck provides roadside assistance for motorists in distress in restricted routes around Nashville in Davidson County. On the interstate ONLY (Excluding Briley Parkway). Stranded motorists can call (615) 862-8600 for help.
