Description:
Provides alternative time-limited housing program with case management models for homeless veterans through partnership with local agencies (Barron Heights and CAAP, referral services to Alpha Omega and the community). Provides peer support, vocational employment development opportunities for participants and the Veterans Justice Outreach program for incarcerated veterans.
Veterans eligible for the Grant & Per Diem Transitional Housing program can receive housing based on their need (Low Demand, Hospital to Housing, Bridge Housing, Clinical Treatment and Service Intensive models). The veteran will consult the intake worker to select the appropriate housing needed for their case. Accommodations are dormitory style and residents are required to follow program regulations, curfews and perform chores. Meals are provided by each facility. Participants without jobs are expected to actively seek employment and learn to become self-sufficient. Veterans with VA medical eligibility who complete 60 days after admission to the program are eligible for one time full dental care services through the VA Dental Clinic. Also offers the HUD-VASH program, a permanent housing program for homeless veterans and their family with Housing Choice Vouchers from the Public Housing Authority for those veterans interested in permanent rental housing and case management. Available vouchers are issued through the public housing authority after the VA Housing Specialist completes a referral and application for services.
