Description:
Legacy Mission Village provides a wide variety of services for legal refugees in the Nashville metro area in Davidson and in Rutherford County, including ESL and citizenship classes, adult education (HiSet/GED), financial education, help applying for Green Cards and citizenship, a youth refugee program for high school students and a kindergarten readiness program for children of refugees ages 3-5; and offers a one-time financial assistance program (Refugee/Assistance Resettlement) with help for rent, utilities and medical needs.
The Adult Education classes include ESL and citizenship classes and teach reading and writing, with an emphasis on teaching practical communication skills to speak to children's teachers, doctors and employers; the Youth Refugee program helps high school students with after school tutoring, college readiness and summer academic programs; the Kindergarten Readiness program focuses on getting children and their families ready to enter the American School system by teaching the children basic academics and by exposing them to American culture.

Intake Process:
Walk in or call for appointment; documents required vary by program; generally need some form of state issued or federal ID showing legal refugee status and proof of residence; youth programs require parental consent form and school records of children; financial assistance program requires proof of income and additional documents. Available on a first come first served but agency has a long waiting list for each program offered.
