Description:
The Exchange Club/Holland J. Stephens Center is a 501(c)3 child abuse prevention agency offering in-home visitation programs, group parenting classes, and community education programs. The Friends For Families Home Visitation serves parents of children ages birth through 12 who are at-risk of child abuse or neglect in Cumberland, Overton, and Putnam Counties. The Healthy Families Home Visitation program serves Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith and White Counties and targets prenatal and teen or new moms or parents specifically. The Parent-Child Connection classes are for parents or caretakers of any age and are offered in person in Cookeville, Crossville, and Livingston sites.

In Person Parenting Classes (Parent-Child Connection) are held at sites in Cookeville, Crossville and Livingston. At Home Visitation Program (Friends for Families): At-risk families with at least one child 12 or younger present in the home; serves Cumberland, Overton, and Putnam Counties. Prenatal, Teen and New Parent home visitation program (Healthy Families): Families who are expecting or with infants 3 months or younger in the home; serves Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, and White Counties.

Special Notes/Funding
Healthy Start in-home visitation serves first-time parents of any age, or teen parents (19 and younger) who are first time or may have more than one child in Putnam, Overton, Jackson, and White Counties. The parent(s) must be enrolled in the Healthy Start program prenatally, at the birth of the baby, or before the baby turns 3 months of age. Parents who voluntarily accept the Healthy Start program will receive a home-visit once a week from a professional Family Support Worker who will help the new parent(s) with a wide variety of issues from hygiene, nutrition, discipline, smoking cessation, family planning, screening for developmental delays, linking with medical providers and other resources in the community, to reading skills development and school readiness. Healthy Start program, accredited by Healthy Families America, is evidence - based, proven effective.
