Description:
Department of Children's Services (DCS) encompasses all aspects of public child welfare, child protective services, adoptions, foster care, delinquent youth, and treatment facilities. The agency is responsible for post-adoption functions, putative father registry, sealed centralized record storage system, and coordination of adoption assistance activities for regional offices; foster care applications, placement and follow-up; juvenile treatment facilities in the state; investigations into child abuse and neglect; and serves children and families at risk of being committed to State custody, coordinates services for children in state custody, and reunifies children leaving state custody with their families.
