Description:

The Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) encompasses all aspects of public child welfare, child protective services, adoptions, foster care, delinquent youth and treatment facilities in Perry and Wayne County (this Waynesboro office also serves Perry County.) The agency is responsible for post-adoption functions, putative father registry, sealed centralized record storage system, and coordination of adoption assistance activities for regional offices; foster care applications, placement and follow-up; juvenile treatment facilities in the state; investigations into child abuse and neglect; and serves children and families at risk of being committed to State custody, coordinates services for children in state custody, and reunifies children leaving state custody with their families.

To become a foster or an adoptive parent, you can be married, single or divorced; may or may not have other children; can own your own home or rent, can work full time; must be at least 21; must be a resident of the State of Tennessee; and must be able to meet the financial and emotional needs of your own family.
