Description:
Adult Protective Services (APS) helps the elderly and adults over the age of 18 who are unable to care for themselves due to a mental or physical disability. APS investigates reports of neglect (including self-neglect), financial exploitation, and physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Adult Protective Services may assist an adult in any living arrangement including nursing homes, group homes, their own homes, homes of relatives or friends, etc. The exception is residents of state operated institutions for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities.
