Description:
Church offers after school tutorial program for deaf students who attend Hillsboro High School, West End Middle School, and Sylvan Park Elementary. Transportation is provided from the schools to the Green Hills YMCA where the tutoring takes place. It is a primarily deaf staff and the tutor to student ratio is very small. Church also offers3 different 8-week summer day camps for deaf children, their hearing siblings, and hearing children with deaf parents, ages 2-17. Camp includes American Sign Language activity classes, character building workshops, alcohol and drug awareness activities, career moments, swimming, and field trips. Staff includes hearing and deaf fluent in ASL and deaf mentors for the children.
