Nashville Out-of-School Time Program Locater; NOST
Description:
Script to Screen helps students fall in love with literacy through making their own movies. This after-school literacy program empowers students' creativity and, in pilot data, improved the majority of students! reading grade level scores. Children analyze movies and scripts and then work together to create their own movies, from writing scripts to memorizing lines to act out to directing different scenes. The end result is a film completely of their making that is debuted at the Script to Screen Red Carpet Premiere.
In this program, students build confidence in themselves, which in turn encourages their learning path. Script to Screen exposes students to a different way of learning, and a new way of showcasing their talents and creativity. Students make connections with books that have been turned into movies and learn that movies and stories follow the same elements.
