Sightseeing/Guided Tours
Programs that provide opportunities for people of all ages to visit locations where evidence of previous human activity has been found, preserved and made available to the public as historic or prehistoric archaeological sites. Artifacts including the ruins of dwellings and outbuildings, pottery shards, tools and other implements, painted or carved rock outcrops (pictographs and petroglyphs), monuments and inscriptions found and preserved at the sites provide the key to understanding the people who once lived, hunted, camped or were buried there. Guided or self-guided tours may be available.
Properties that have been singled out for preservation because of their historic, architectural, archeological, engineering or cultural significance and made available to the public as historic places.
Picturesque structures that span and allow people and/or vehicles to cross rivers, canals, railway tracks or other obstacles. Included are covered bridges, wooden bridges and more expansive structures that are major parts of the skyline such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Lion’s Gate Bridge in Vancouver or the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.
Programs that provide sightseeing excursions that allow participants to see and photograph animals, birds, fish, reptiles and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
