Description:
Places children with trained and approved adoptive parents. Provides information/counseling to unmarried parents, including teenagers, to assist with planning for unborn children who will be put up for adoption. Arrangements can be made with relatives or non-relatives. Accepts applications for prospective adoptive parents. Provides MAPP (Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting) training for adoptive parents, monitors adoptive families, ALITA (A Life Investment Through Adoptions) provides similar services specifically for African-American children, and adoptions of children with disabilities.

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

No Fee; services provided without regard to income
Eligibility:
Married or single persons who complete MAPP training and are approved by DCS are eligible to become adoptive parents; any expectant parent seeking adoptive placement for a child after delivery or children freed for adoption can be helped through the department.
