Beadwork Clubs
Taxonomy Code: PS-8200.0550-070
Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in beadwork, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include lectures by people with beading expertise; demonstrations of basic beading techniques or beadwork associated with a particular culture; and regular meetings at which members share information about different types of beads, beading patterns, sources for beads or current beading projects, enjoy the company of other beading enthusiasts and have time to work on their projects. Some beading clubs may also provide space for beading activities, arrange for discounts on beads and other materials, sponsor exhibits or sales of beadwork done by members, publish a newsletter or provide a library of resources about the craft. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
