Volunteer Behavioral Health provides a continuum of services including, but not limited to, outpatient counseling, evaluation services, medication management, care management, intensive outpatient programs and crisis services to treat mental illness and co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use issues). The VBH Madisonville campus offers case management, medication management, Adult and Children's Outpatient Therapy, Mobile Crisis line, PATH program for the homeless, SOAR, Juvenile Justice Liaison, SOCAT, SBBHL, Behavioral Safety Net for adults and children, Community Behavioral Health Liaison and Finding My Recovery Online Support Program.

Description
Provides the PATH [Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness] and SOAR program, assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness who have mental illness or co-occurring disorders; the program funds community-based outreach services to connect individuals to mental health, substance abuse, case management, and other support services as well as limited housing services. The PATH Program offers assistance to homeless people who are mentally challenged or dealing with substance abuse. They work to help clients gain housing, employment, SSI, and mental health services. The SOAR program [SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery] that expedites getting social security approval for persons with a mental illness who are experiencing homelessness. PATH staff are provided at the VBH Madisonville, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, Cookeville, Crossville, Franklin and Lebanon Campuses.

Eligibility
People 18 and older experiencing literal homelessness or who are at risk for homelessness, who have not received mental health or substance use services in six months or more. Anyone who is homeless or within 7 days of eviction with mental illness or substance abuse problem or both may apply.

Description
Provides 24/7 crisis intervention hotline and referral, including mobile crisis assessment services, crisis respite services and crisis stabilization services. Provides prescreening for mental health services, mobile crisis team and emergency outpatient clinic for residents. For non-violent psychiatric emergencies only (may take the team several hours to respond). A psychiatric team will go to the caller's location and assess the person in question. Callers should be instructed to contact this service themselves. For more serious psychiatric emergencies call your local Police Department - CIT team (tell the dispatcher this is a mental health emergency)

Eligibility
Residents ages 18 and over who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis. (Under 18 should be referred to Youth Villages).
Fees
No Fee for those without insurance; Accepts TennCare, Medicare/Medicare dual (with TennCare as secondary form of insurance) and offers a sliding scale fee based on federal poverty guidelines for persons without insurance for continued treatment
Intake Procedure
Call; the mobile crisis unit will come to the client in need, but does not give out medication. For urgent cases where a fast response is necessary, call your local Police department Non-Emergency Number for the CIT team (tell the dispatch this is a mental health consumer); if a person is seen by the team and they are transported, the client will usually be taken to the closest VBH Crisis Assessment Center); if the person is violent or in danger of hurting themselves, call 9-1-1 instead)
