Description:
Community of women who have survived prostitution, trafficking, and addiction; the social enterprise is comprised of the two year residential program, known as Magdalene, the Thistle Farms Marketplace, the Thistle Stop Cafe, and Shared Trade, a global fair trade marketplace. They provide a safe place to live, a meaningful job, and a lifelong sisterhood of support. The 2-year residential program provides housing, food, healthcare, therapy and education without charging residents. Residents and graduates of our residential program are employed in one of our social enterprises. Thistle Farms Shop and Cafe profits directly fund the recovery program. The Shop at Thistle Farms offers gifts from woman-led justice enterprises. Purchase Thistle Farms handmade Home & Body products and shop baskets, jewelry, apparel, household textiles, and more from partners around the globe.

Intake Process:
If interested in enrolling in the residential program, please fill out the online Entrance Request Form or call the Thistle Farms residential number. In order to remain active on the waiting list, referrals must continue to make contact with staff on a weekly basis. Can serve 28 women at one time.
Cafe and Shop are open to anyone; see website for current selection of Thistle Farms products, which are also available to order online.

Eligibility:
Selection of women for entry to Magdalene is based on an individual's history and current circumstances as they meet agency mission and admission criteria; does not discriminate and operates without regard to race, color, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, or religion. Thistle Farms does not offer emergency housing. A woman entering the Magdalene program must: have a history of prostitution or trafficking in addition to an alcohol and/or drug addiction and be willing to commit to a two-year residential program (The residential program is not a transitional housing program). Magdalene is unable to offer services to pregnant women or women who have young children living with them; women on the sex offenders registry; women with outstanding criminal charges, or men.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Thistle Farms welcomes individual and group volunteers (up to 8 people per group) to work in a variety of their departments. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Email volunteerinfo@thistlefarms.org for more information.
