Description:
Responsible for the design, maintenance and construction of County infrastructure, including roads, bridges, storm drainage, sanitary sewers, traffic signals and signage. Provides engineering oversight for environmental needs such as flood analysis and prevention for improved resiliency, water pollution control and landfill post-closure monitoring. The service area encompasses the unincorporated area of Shelby County. Incorporated areas are serviced by the respective municipalities.
Also reviews applications for land development of commercial and residential subdivisions. Maintain GIS databases for the County infrastructure. Serves as the local Floodplain Administrator for the Federal Flood Insurance Program. Provides grant management for capital projects to upgrade, replace, expand, and construct new infrastructure to meet the safety and service demand needs of the County.
RBE picks up roadside litter daily and will pick up dead animals (for a fee) in the unincorporated areas of Shelby County. Dead animal pick up services for large livestock such as horses and cows is provided County wide (for a fee), including municipalities.
