Land Development Support Services
Programs that provide architectural design services for government agencies, public corporations, private institutions or individuals who are in the process of developing plans for the creation or modification of physical structures within the context of a particular urban or rural built environment. Architectural designers are responsible for feasibility studies, regional and community site analysis and design, accessibility evaluations, building design, construction drawings and specifications, and construction oversight.
Programs that provide information, technical assistance, support and/or architectural design services for individuals and communities that want to design, construct and operate buildings that incorporate mechanisms for ensuring energy efficiency, water conservation, waste minimization, pollution prevention, use of resource-efficient materials, indoor air quality and construction practices that have a minimal impact on the environment. Design features may include thermal shells; double paned, reflecting windows; advanced lighting systems; enhanced use of natural light; solar and/or wind enhanced electrical systems; heating and cooling systems that are energy efficient and reduce pollution; use of rubber tires, straw bales, tin cans and other recycled or alternative building materials; and selection of carpets, paints and indoor furnishings that preserve a healthy indoor environment.
