Description:
Founded in 2001, The Ark works to bring together community resources to help neighbors in need in south Cheatham County. Services include a weekly food pantry, utility assistance, Meals on Wheels for homebound seniors, school supply giveaway in August, Christmas Angel Tree Program, summer FUEL program for kids, and Noah!s Closet resale shop which provides excellent clothing at very low prices.
Hours:
Assistance Program Hours: Mon Noon - 4:00 pm; Thrift store hours: Tue - Sat 10:00 am - 4:00 pm; Food Pantry Hours: Mon Noon - 4:00 pm (except 5th Mondays or major holidays)
Donations accepted Tue - Sat from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Intake Process:
The thrift store is open to anyone. For other programs, come on Monday between 12 Noon and 4:00 pm or make an appointment with the executive director. Bring photo ID for each adult in the household, SS card or birth certificate for each minor, and proof of residency (mortgage statement or lease agreement).
Program Fees:
Services are provided at no charge. There is a cost for items purchased in the thrift shop.

Non-perishable food, new school supplies and backpacks, new toys and games for Christmas gifts, and clothing and household items in gently used condition. Please drop off donations Tue - Sat 10:00 - 3:30 pm. Agency cannot accept large appliances, large pieces of furniture, mattresses, and used electronics of any kind. Also cannot accept TVs, computer monitors, and printers.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Help is needed in the food pantry to distribute food; stock food pantry shelves; and pick up food from food drives, Second Harvest, and during postal food drive. Volunteers are also needed to work in the thrift shop for two hours per week or more and to deliver for Meals on Wheels.
