Cheatham County Animal Control is a Certified Animal Control Agency under The State of Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners - State Health Department. The agency addresses domestic, wildlife, and livestock calls. The program operates in a variety of areas in order to meet the needs of the community: Shelter Operations; Field Operations; Adoption Services; Volunteer Program; Community Services Program; Shelter/ Rescue Networks; Euthanasia Services; Pet Facilitative Therapy Program; Humane Education Program; Spay/Neuter Program; and Cruelty/Neglect Cases. This agency has been a no kill shelter since 2019 and also has a pet food pantry for persons who need help feeding their pet and accepts pet fostering as well as animal adoptions.

Eligibility:
Those wishing to adopt or foster an animal must complete an application that can be found at the website. For adoptions, persons must complete an adoption packet signed and witnessed by staff; have a government-issued photo ID that can be documented; must be over the age of 18 and must pay the adoption fee. Anyone who has harmed an animal or been convicted of a violent crime may not adopt an animal.
