Description:
Opportunity for felony drug offenders to learn how to experience a clean and sober life through extensive supervision and a treatment program; goal is to promote public safety and to reduce recidivism and incarceration rates for people who are arrested with an alcohol or drug charge; Drug court participants undergo long-term treatment and counseling sanctions, incentives and frequent court appearances. Successful completion of the program results in dismissal of charges, reduced or set aside sentences, lesser penalties, or a combination of these.
12th District Drug Court serves Franklin, Marion, Rhea, Grundy, Sequatchie, and Bledsoe County

Intake Process:
Go to website, click "How to Apply," and then click on the application form; defense attorney will first determine whether client would benefit and could participate and will then submit the form for the client; applicants will be interviewed by the team; team will vote on whether to accept referral

Eligibility:
Must have pending criminal charges, must be addicted to drugs or alcohol, cannot have criminal history of violent or sexual offenses; District Attorney prosecuting the case must approve the application; Must be a resident of Franklin, Marion, Rhea, Grundy, Sequatchie, and Bledsoe County; those accepted are at a high risk to re-offend and have a high need for treatment
