Description:

Y-CAP (YMCA Community Action Programs) provides programs and experiences that close the opportunity gap for students grades K-12 in Tennessee; this office serves Davidson, Robertson and Williamson Counties.

The agency serves students through literacy tutoring, social and emotional learning programs, and college and career readiness resources!€”all at no cost. Their mission is to offer support and encouragement to youth from adults who care.

Y-Literacy helps struggling readers in grades K-5 gain confidence by increasing their reading comprehension and literacy skills. Program offers weekly free one-on-one tutoring to students who are reading below their grade level. The curriculum covers the essential components of literacy: phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and sight-word recognition. Y-Literacy currently meets virtually via Zoom.

Y-Quest offers a fun, welcoming space after school Monday through Thursday. Students learn the skills, knowledge, and mindsets they need to handle strong emotions, better understand and connect with their peers, and avoid and resolve conflicts. Y-Quest aims to guide student's progress in emotion management, academic achievement, and building positive identity.
