Description:

Provides a 24-hour crisis and support helpline and emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence. While at the shelter, women and children will have access to one on one case management, counseling, support groups, transitional housing, financial literacy and career counseling. YWCA also offers a pet shelter for the dogs and cats of victims called Abbie's Safe House, located at the Weaver Domestic Violence Center; the address for this site is confidential for security reasons. Men are also provided DV services and shelter at a separate location. The agency also offers free classes to help individuals prepare to take the GED/High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) which are available to DV survivors as well as the general public, as well as employment preparation classes open to the public and spring break/summer camps for youth, ages 8 and older, at selected Nashville MNPS school sites.

Eligibility:

DV Services: Anyone experiencing domestic violence (women and children, men, LGBTQ+ survivors); serves Cheatham, Davidson, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson Counties; Youth summer camps: children 8 and older who currently attend one of the YWCA's partner schools in Nashville; GED/HiSet and/or Employment Preparation: open to any adults who can come to the Nashville site for certain programs/events; most of these classes are now online.
