Description:

Provides LIHEAP and emergency utility assistance, distributes USDA commodities and provides Head Start programs for 3-4 year olds. Assistance with heating and cooling bills may be available for residents in Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion and Weakley counties who meet income eligibility and other guidelines. Applications for Regular Heating are available beginning in September. Emergency Heating Assistance begins January and ends April 30th. Summer Cooling Assistance is from May until June. Assistance is given on a case by case basis. Acquires surplus commodities stockpiled by the federal government (the USDA) and distributes them 4 times per year to people who qualify for this service on the basis of income.

Low income residents of Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion and Weakley counties. Head Start covers additional counties in west TN (Fayette, Lauderdale, Madison and Tipton). All programs require application and verification of income and other documentation as requested.
