Barron Heights Transitional Center - Transitional Shelter for Male Veterans

Description:

Provides dormitory-style transitional shelter with three meals a day for homeless male veterans, preferably those referred by VA hospital or area homeless shelters. Provides medical referrals to VA hospital, vocational counseling, job readiness, budget and savings planning, and support services after completion of program. A 15-day blackout period occurs upon admission; during this time, clients may not leave facility except for medical appointments or legal obligations. At the end of the blackout period, residents without jobs are expected to seek employment (unless the client has a disability and can provide proof of this from a physician).

1/3 of Net Income of those working. Must work or be willing to work, unless on disability benefits

Eligibility:

Homeless male veterans, with preference to men referred by VA hospital or area homeless shelters. No narcotic medications allowed at the facility.
