Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County - Coordinated Response to Elder Abuse

Description:

The Coordinated Response to Elder Abuse (CREA) is a program initially funded by the Plough Foundation in an effort to improve the protection of older adults in Shelby County by providing a coordinated response and linking abused seniors to needed resources in the community. The two Elder Care Coordinators, now funded by VOCA, are housed at the Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County. Elder Care Coordinators serve as the links between CREA partners to ensure access to direct services in an effort to enhance overall functioning and reduce exposure to continued abuse. CREA partners provide services to elderly citizens (60 and older) who have suffered physical, sexual, emotional abuse, neglect and financial exploitation.

Hours:

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; for after hours call, leave message for call back the following business day; call 9-1-1 for an emergency

Intake Process:

Call, email or walk in for an appointment; and elderly citizens who are homebound can contact the agency to do an intake over the phone

Languages:

Spanish speaking staff available during regular office hours

Eligibility:

Persons 60 and older in Shelby County who are suffering any type of abuse: emotional, financial, physical, sexual, self-neglect
