Offers adults one-on-one literacy tutoring, workshops and conversation for persons who don't speak English as their primary language. This agency services adults and children from Fayette, Shelby, Tipton and Desoto counties. DTD Partner Agency.

Hours:

Mon - Thu 9:00 am - 7:00 pm

Classes begin in January 2024

Intake Process:

Walk in, call or apply online to schedule your initial appointment; requires state issued ID, driver's license (or passport or driver's license from another country, if applicable)

Program Fees:

Sliding scale fee for assessments and classes based on family need

Spanish, Arabic

Eligibility:

Any adult in Fayette, Shelby, Tipton and Desoto Counties, 18 or older who want to learn to speak or improve their English reading or speaking skills; or children in grades 4th-8th who need help with their reading skills

Volunteer Opportunities:

Adult Volunteer tutors needed, 18 and older (must register for free trainings to prepare to become a tutor for an adult student in CLC programs); tutoring volunteers must commit to meet with students once a week and prepare a monthly report on your student's progress; also volunteers for fundraising events and volunteers needed to help once each week in the office
