Description:

Provides Memphis headquarters for the Department of Homeland Security US Citizenship and Immigration Services. This office handles all immigration and naturalization related matters for the states of Tennessee (Western District), Eastern Arkansas (Eastern District) and the top half of Mississippi (Northern District). Processes applications for citizenship and permanent resident status. Provides assistance to employers to ensure that employees have the required documents to legally work in the United States. Administers, enforces, and provides information concerning US naturalization laws. Also accepts applications for naturalization, administers examinations, and conducts citizenship interviews. Distributes applications for extensions of visas, political asylum, and other immigration needs. Investigates, apprehends, and expels violators of immigration law. Reviews alien entrance applications to determine admission status (e.g. orphan adoption from other countries, visitors seeking permanent residence.)

Persons may call the USCIS Contact Center to make an appointment for a service that can only be provided in person (such as passport stamps and advance parole).
