Description:

Provides after school program for ages pre-K through 8th grade in the Knowledge Quest School Age Academy Monday - Friday 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm, targeting the 38106 and 38126 zip codes. Program focuses on character development, academics including homework help, hands-on learning, artistic and sporting activities with a separate Teenage Academy for children in grades 6th-8th. Children are divided into three classrooms: Pre-K-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade and 4th-5th grade. Also provides a community garden (Green Leaf Learning certified Organic Farm) open to the public along with the Jay Uiberall Culinary Academy that provides cooking classes and nutrition education to grades 9-12.

Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 6:00 pm; After School Program Hours: Mon - Fri 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm (General business hours Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 6:00 pm)

Intake Process:

Call (901) 942-1512 to schedule an orientation for students in grades Pre-K-8th to attend the after school program; local schools also make referrals for grades Pre-K-12 for available programs; call for intake regarding family assistance through the Family Stability program.

Program Fees:

No Fee, but parents/guardians are asked to volunteer 5 hours at the site every nine week period

Eligibility:

Children in grades pre-K to 8 for after school programs and grades 9-12 for the Culinary Academy; for case management services through FSI, families must reside in 38106 or 38126 and have at least one child living in the home; community garden is open to the public

School supplies, especially back packs and school uniforms (primarily Khaki bottoms and white school collar shirts) and flash drives for the students; garden supplies

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers needed, at least 10 volunteers per class. Or if someone would like to volunteer 1 hour a day, week or monthly that would be welcomed; school is very flexible about scheduling
