Description:

NOTE: DUE TO COVID-19, CAR SEATS ARE DISTRIBUTED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Provides convertible infant car safety seats (5-40 lbs) for clients in need who receive the following forms of public assistance in Shelby County: WIC, TennCare, or food stamps. Cost is FREE. If pregnant, seat can be picked up day of delivery. Legal guardian or foster parent must bring court papers.

Intake Process:

Must leave voicemail to make appointment (leave name, number); Requires photo ID. Baby/child must already be born, must provide birth certificate (mother's copy from the hospital is accepted). Foster parents or legal guardians must provide documentation. Only one car seat issued per child. (If you have had a seat previously for a child, you do not qualify for a second car seat for the same child). May email at car.seats@shelbycountytn.gov.
