Habitat for Humanity of Rutherford County provides an empowering affordable home ownership program serving families and individuals in Rutherford County (zip codes: 37130, 37129, 37128, 37167, or 37086). Services offered include low cost homes/housing units, volunteer opportunities, and sweat equity programs. The Habitat ReStore takes donations of household goods and recycles and sells them at discount prices. The ReStore and the Offices are at the same address. RCHFH also has an Aging In Place program to do repairs on houses owned by seniors who cannot maintain their home or afford critical repairs. The agency can sometimes also help veterans with repairs and refer people to other agencies or programs such as the Home Uplift Program from Nashville Electric Services and MTE.

Intake Process:

Call or visit the website for information on applying for agency programs; if applying for the Future Homeownership Program, click the HOMEOWNERSHIP tab for the most recent information, qualifications, contact info and application. The agency generally open applications once a year in the spring. The next application period will be in Spring 2024.

9) Tax returns and bank statements
10) Proof of SSI/Disability, if applicable

Program Fees:

If approved for the Future Homeownership sweat equity program, there is a $1500 down payment; some processing fees apply for other programs

Eligibility:

Must be a low-moderate income resident living or working in Rutherford County (zip codes 37130, 37129, 37128, 37167, or 37086) for the sweat equity program. Agency serves those who earn 40-80% of the Area Medium Income, and occasionally lower. See the website for more qualifications. The home rehab program for seniors (Aging in Place) and veterans are for home owners in Rutherford County who meet eligibility requirements.

The Habitat ReStore helps fund the administrative costs of RCHFH. The ReStore is always looking for donations of new and gently used furniture, working appliances, light fixtures, flooring, cabinets and building materials. Volunteer Opportunities:

RCHFH offers a volunteer team building experience few other nonprofits can offer at both the Habitat Build sites and the ReStore. Volunteers can often work hand-in-hand with the Future Homeowner and learn of their journey to homeownership. Build volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Agency sometimes has "Panel Builds" where volunteers can be as young as 14, if with a parent/guardian.
